Starting On Intermittent Fasting

Starting On Intermittent Fasting

Jessica Clark has been intermittent fasting ever since she tried the keto diet a few years ago and has been practicing intermittent fasting ever since. With intermittent fasting, she finally discovered a lifestyle right for her. Jessica was recently interviewed by her local wellness community on how she works with clients to implement intermittent fasting.

Who can use intermittent fasting?

Almost anyone can fast for immediate gestational benefits!

Individuals with the following conditions should use caution when fasting or practice fasting under the supervision of a doctor:

  • Diabetics
  • Gout
  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease

Individuals who should absolutely not fast are pregnant women, breastfeeding women, children under the age of 18, and severely malnourished or underweight individuals.

How long have you been a coach?

I’ve been motivating my friends and family for years. I’ve come so far with adopting a Keto lifestyle and people around me want to know how the keto lifestyle can work for them. My friends and family started showing results, so I felt confident to begin offering my coaching services professionally. People in my community began asking questions and wanted to know how to get in touch so they could work with me. My keto packages are available on my website, www-g9xje.hosts.cx

What are the different variants?

There are many different fasting methods that range from restricted eating windows to longer extended fasts that need to be medically supervised. Healthy people can fast daily for 12 hours, 16 hours, 20 hours, or more (including sleeping) starting at 7 pm the night before.

The fasting method I typically follow is OMAD (one meal a day). I consume 1 big meal a day within a window of time and I never worry about calories!

People can drink water only in the fasting window while tea and black coffee are also acceptable fasting fluids. Some people may add a small amount of ACV (apple cider vinegar), salt (a micro plastic-free salt with minerals still intact like Himalayan or Celtic), butter, MCT oil, or heavy cream in their fluids.

What are some things to consider?

Everyone has individual health concerns and can be addressed during a consultation where we discuss the best route for your weight loss goals. Some things to consider are other ways to support your weight loss goals, such as light cardio activity or alternatively Infrared heat for weight loss. A recent Weight Loss Study by Binghamton University on Jacuzzi® infrared saunas concluded that one 30-minute session is effective in burning 600 calories and ridding the body of toxins and stubborn body fat. See more information about our Infrared Sauna here.

Should patients get blood work?

I believe that everyone should have regular blood work done, typically a yearly checkup or physical is covered by most insurance plans. I also believe that patients should always get cleared by their doctor before starting any lifestyle modification program.

How many weeks or months can a person do the fasting?

For most healthy individuals, intermittent fasting can become a lifestyle. There are so many flexible options and the frequency can be incorporated into your schedule and current lifestyle.

When should someone consider scheduling a visit with your office?

There’s a lot of contradicting information out there about fasting, but if you’re the kind of person that doesn’t have time to research how to incorporate a keto lifestyle, I can educate you on all the key components during consultation and keep you on track as your body adjusts and begins to shed weight. For example, I know how to work out but I prefer to have a personal trainer because they keep me motivated and push me more than I would push myself. I get better results this way. I am available by text for my clients that need an extra boost of support.

Is it easier to lose weight on Keto than intermittent fasting?

Keto and intermittent fasting when done correctly typically go together for the best possible outcome. Keto isn’t as sustainable for those with health, ethical, or food sensitivities. For example, I have a dairy sensitivity, and some of my clients are vegan. A lot of my clients are eating a plant-based diet and get great results with intermittent fasting. I believe that for anything to work long term, it needs to be sustainable.

What is your pricing?

The initial phone consultation is free. I get my clients on an eating plan for $99 (1 coaching/shopping session) and $300/month for a package of 4 weekly sessions. With the purchase of a package, clients get direct access to me via text in between sessions where they are encouraged to text photos of meals, call with any questions, concerns, struggles, or even motivational support. Diet and lifestyle changes can release excess emotions which is a normal part of the weight-loss process. Learn more about my weight loss coaching here.
